Last friday the snow finally hit the Netherlands. And although it took me 4 more hours to travel home, I enjoy it a (damn) lot! Did you see my purple hair in the previous post? Well, that's temporary purple. The actual dyed purple in my hair is fading out and going blonde.. Damn. Luckily I have to test these Kevin Murphy - Color Bugs for work.

It's like chalk for your hair. Rub it onto your hair in a second, massage it with your hands, apply hair spray and fool your mom before dancing the night away. The next morning you just wash it out (and your pillow as well). It's truly wonderful.

Now that I've revealed one of my latest beauty secrets I might reveal another one tomorrow..

This weekend I'm celebrating my sister Sophia's birthday in Amsterdam and today I went for a 2-hour hunt to get her the right gifts. I found them! The first gift is this framed drawing of a heart (dated circa 1900). I like it because it's a little weird.

Last night I went to the Nelly High Heels event to write for mode.dejaap.nl (the article will be on the site upcoming week). The first 150 girls who arrived at Club Monza (@ Utrecht) got to pick a pair of free shoes from Nelly. Some girls had been waiting at the door for 5 or 6 hours! I took some pictures, drank some vodka lime, did some interviews, checked out the shoes and even chose a free pair myself too. Here is a little impression of the night.

I chose the red heels as my favorite. If this shoe (prototype) is a succes, I will receive it
in my mailbox within 2 months. Otherwise I'll get another pair. I can't wait!

I interviewed Andreas, the organisator of High Heels, actress and host of the evening Carolien Spoor and a lot of shoe addicted girls.

Got this fantastic Agfa Clack with yellow filter (removable) from a friend a few weeks ago. I'm really excited to work with this analogue camera because my dad used to shoot with this camera when he was my age. The project starts now. Last saturday Dr. Eye had some good news for me. As you might know I've been wearing my glasses a lot past weeks and from now on I just have to wear them 4 days a week! The rest of the week I can wear my contact lenses again. I'm really happy with this result because me + glasses isn't really the perfect combination (read: losing them, accidentally trowing them through my room, almost sitting on them).

Further: the weather is going cold, so I'm allowed to wear my fur again. Hope to buy an extra winter coat soon, any suggestions?

A hairy story

It all started.. in the summer of 2010! To earn some extra money (and extra haircuts) I started working as a hairdressers assistent. And yes, I could cut, dye and damage my hair as much as I wanted and so I did. I started simple with different bangs (straight, round, 70's style), dark red tips, an afro and..

All of a sudden I thought 'Ginger is the new black'. When looking back at this red head I know I was wrong. I even had red highlights for a few weeks.. What?!

After this funky period I decided to go even more funky. I shaved half (no not really half) my head and even painted it in my natural color so now and then. But since wearing your hair to one side ALL the time sometimes gets really boring I also wore my hair middle parted. Hmm, looking at the shots of 'spring 2011' really makes me miss my long locks.

But, all of a sudden, these long locks started to annoy me. Thanks to the Swedish sun my hair grew extremely fast last summer and started to turn into one big dry curl. As soon as I returned from this beautiful vacation I ran to the hairdresser to get it all sharp and dark.
Waaaw.. Long story. Right now my hair is still short but not as sharp as before. I don't straight it anymore and prefer to wear it 'naturally'. I really like it this way! Although.. What about..

Anyway, here is a step by step guide on how to make these shoes

1 / Get yourself a pair of creepers, mine are from H&M (€35)

2 / Cut a piece of paper in the shape of the nose, draw this shape on your piece of (faux) fur

The result of my shopping spree yesterday. I finally bought myself a pair of creepers (H&M) and I've got some fun plans for these shoes.. I also bought a knitted sweater for upcoming fall. Further i bought two beautiful fabrics at A. Boeken, I will turn the pink one into a skirt and the grey coton will turn into a simple top. Do you like my purchases?

As I told you before I worked at this party last night. It was a LOT of fun, but tough as well. Today I slept for a few hours, watched television and ordered this delicious pizza. The perfect sunday afternoon, haven't had one like this in weeks.

There is a lot of dammage on my eye and I'm not allowed to wear contacts for a while. Which sucks. But enough blah blah, I bought this pretty pair of Chanel glasses which will help me through this geeky time.

Although I weren't on vacation for shopping, I could not leave Scandinavia without a few purchases!

One of the 'good' parts about having an eye infection is that you are allowed to buy as many sunglasses as you like. So.. Of course I got myself a few (3 pair!). Besides sunglasses I also bought a T-shirt and shoes at Weekday and a dress from BikBok.

We only visited the South of Sweden: Halmstad, Mastocka and the area around Unnen (lake). We stayed at Coen's uncle and aunt, who live in Sweden. And also did some wild camping but that turned out horrible, because I now have a terrible eye infection and that's also why I'm not on any photographs from Sweden.

The perfect look for packing the car and buying the last few things for our road trip! We are leaving upcoming friday / saturday, but I had no plans for this weekend so I decided to pack as much as possible now. HOW TO // make super easy bracelets (and one necklace)

YOU NEED // white soft rope / leather bracelet / small leather rope / white mountain crystals / a lighter / and some stuff from the hardware store

BE CREATIVE // Match different colors, materials and play around with the iron wire.

+ Don't forget to melt the tips of the white rope with your lighter. This way it won't fall apart later!

FAVORITE ONE // When I found this gold case at the hardware store I wanted to turn it into a ring, but it was a little bit to small. So I decided to use it for a bracelet in the style of Proenza Schouler, but without the bright colors.

FAVORITE TWO // I bought this turkish leather (dark blue) bracelet at the market for just 2 euros! I added the iron wire to make it look a little less boring. Do you like the result?

I know it's the middle of the night and I'm supposed to sleep since I've got a test tomorrow. But.. I can't sleep because I'm a little too nervous so I decided to write a post about PS Magazine. I received this magazine from Stefanie and Puck when I visited OneDayShop a few weeks ago. I have to say: It's pretty amazing!!

They made this magazine together (just these two girls!). Design, photo shoots, interviews, everything! Another cool fact: they added a few white pages to the magazine to give it a clean, peaceful feeling and I think that turned out perfectly. Here a few shots to give you an idea of the magazine. In case you want one: their second version will be out in July.

I got myself this Levi's jacket yesterday and I'm so happy with it. The jacket is slightly oversized and supposed to be worn by men. Well, I like it anyway and I'm sure going to wear it a lot on our road trip through Scandinavia!

3 x Summer

This summer I've got three plans: Paris, LowLands Festival and Denmark/Sweden. I'm already thinking about what to wear and why, so I made you this little list. Perhaps it helps you to pack your bags for summer too!

1) PARIS to enjoy the city but mainly to relax in the french sun
I chose an outfit in the style of the beautiful and french Vanessa Paradis. Laid back with a lot of hand made details and jewelry.

2) LOWLANDS FESTIVAL good music, rain and a bunch of friends
I got inspired for this outfit by the raw style of Agyness Deyn and decided to highlight the blue and red she's wearing at Coachella.

3) DENMARK / SWEDEN sitting around the fire with my boy and some friends until the sun comes up again
For this outfit I decided to use scandinavian brands only. The scandinavian simplicity of brands like Weekday and Cheapmonday really make me want to run to Copenhagen or Stockholm for a little shopping spree.

Yesterday I went to annual event the HTNK OneDayShop in Amsterdam @Club Trouw. On just 800 square meters the collections of a lot of Dutch designers were sold for discount prices. Illustrations, clothing, photography, art, jewellery and shoes. Designers like.. SPRB, Femke Agema, And Beyond, Maartje Dijkstra, Daisy Kroon, Brown Clothes, Charlotte Kan, Bas Kosters and more!

I really liked the event and met a lot of fashion forward people and kind designers. I can't wait until next year when the OneDayShop hits Amsterdam again!

One of my favorite designers was (jewelry) designer Maite Prince. Her collection included super soft leather necklaces and was called 'le soleil brille á travers les arbres' which means how the sun shines through the trees. My favorite piece was a soft pink necklace made of sheep skin which color changes in the sun. And of course I really liked the photography of her lookbook.

+It's Maites first collection after she graduated in fashion design from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam!

Another favorite of mine was allround designer and artist Bagua Jody. He was at the OneDayShop to sell his beautiful paintings (check them out below) and to draw some limited edition canvas bags with portraits of the owners (I got one myself too)! Jody, you did an amazing job and I hope to hear from you soon.

I bought this jacket last tuesday in Amsterdam and have worn it ever since! It's such a cool print and the fabric is softer than soft. Sadly I am super busy with school so I'm mainly wearing it with my pajamas underneath. Just 3 weeks to go before I've finished this year. My plans for summer are great: 2 or 3 weeks to Denmark and Sweden, one week to Paris and to end it all I'm going to LowLands (=Dutch festival) with a bunch of friends.

+ Right now I'm off to HTNK OneDayShop in Amsterdam. Any of you going too?

Just a close up of my latest purchases. Mixing prints and colors has somehow always been a favorite of mine. My mom used to put me in the craziest print-combinations when I were a kid. Flowers, fruit, stripes and spots, it couldn't be too crazy for my mom. I think this must be the reason why I also like these combinations.

+ A rumour for the Dutch: the 10th of june Topshop will open her first store in the Netherlands, in Amsterdam to be exact.

Well, here they finally are, the answers to most of the questions. 'Most of' because I lost a lot of them thanks to the blogger crash.. Sadly I couldn’t remember all the questions so here are the ones I remembered or where re-asked by email. Thanks that for by the way.

How & why did you start your blog?
I started my blog a little bit more than a year ago. I wanted a platform in which I could do whatever I wanted to. No rules, nothing, so I decided to start my own blog! In the beginning I wasn’t very productive or creative, but when I got responses from readers and explored other blogs I started to like it more and more. I don’t think I will ever stop blogging.

What is you favourite piece in your closet?
I don’t have one favourite, but there are a few pieces which I could wear on a daily base like my camel Topshop sandals (last worn here). Further I have a big crush on the blue leather bag (ASOS) I got as a present from my boyfriend and the silver arm cuffs by H&M (new collection) which will apear on my blog soon.
On a regular school day I prefer to wear a simple white tank top, blue skinny jeans, easy-to-walk-on heels, red lip stick and a large tote. It might sound very simple and boring, but it’s perfect for running around with cameras and paper all day.

What are your fashion related dreams?
Hmm, that’s a good one. My dream job would probably be to be standing in the shoes of Emanuelle Alt, but I would also be very happy with any other fashion or art related job. As long as I have the chance to be creative and turn my hobby into a job.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I study journalism and I hopefully will graduate in 3 years. After that I would love to work at a fashion or art related site or magazine, but I also like making documentaries. I think I should not dream too much about my future before I even know what I’m really good at. For now I will just be blogging a lot and working my ass off for school.
Besides my career I also want to have my own apartment or house (not a student house) within five years and perhaps a funny car too although I’m really happy with my bike.

Which blogs inspire you?
There are a lot of blogs I like, as well bigger ones as small ones. For inspiration I prefer fashion photography blogs like Jak & Jil. I also really like Wolves & Bucks a photo diary by fashion blogger Adeline Rapon and her boyfriend. If you know a blog you think I should know about: tell me! I’m always interested in reading new blogs (not only fashion related).

What kind of music do you listen to?
Hmm, that’s a difficult question to answer in a few lines, but I’ll give it a try. I like a lot of old music like: Neil Young, Lou Reed and Johnny Cash.
Besides that I’m a big fan of Lykke Li, I went to her concert last April and will see her perform again upcoming summer at Lowlands Festival.
Yesterday I went to an amazing concert of the Swedish singer The tallest man on earth who has the sexiest raw voice I know and plays the guitar beautifully. Within two weeks I’m also going to a very cool indie festival with performers such as Wye Oak, Herman Dune and The Cave Singers. There are still some tickets left, so in case you are interested: go!

What is your boyfriend like & how long have you been together?
Hahaha, that’s an easy question: my boyfriend is amazing and we have been together for almost six months now.

Sunny weather is over (for now) so I decided to pull out a long skirt and a jacket. Not a real problem since I really like this skirt combined with my new sandals.

YESTERDAY I received my Olive Black Topshop Sandals and luckily they fit perfectly. They are my 8th pair of Topshop shoes. After my sisters saw my new shoes she said: "They are so not charming!" and I know they are heavy and chunky but that's exactly how I like a shoe to be like. Thick wooden heels with soft leather = perfection! + Already spotted my next chunky shoe at the Topshop online store: these boys
